12 Best Bobby Witt Jr. Rookie Cards to Add to Your Collection

The market lately has been inundated with prospect cards, but collectors know the pinnacle for any prospect is their Bowman Chrome 1st. When Topps kicked off their 2020 product, they chose Bobby Witt Jr. as their face.

While print run is high, prices typically soar for a Bowman 1st as a prospect climbs the minor league ranks. Once their long-awaited debut is made, especially for Witt Jr., this card becomes one of the most sought after on the market.

PSA 10 Value: $900

Take all the best parts of a Bowman Chrome 1st and slap an autograph on it—that’ll sell. Bobby Witt Jr.’s 2020 Bowman Chrome Prospects Auto fits in this very desirable category.

And while the paper version of this same card comes with a sticker auto, the chrome features a hard signature from Witt himself. The power of the Bowman brand is on full display with this card, making it a pricey addition to any collection.

Launched in 2022, Topps Chrome Cosmic gave us another release to go Bobby Witt Jr. rookie card hunting. Coupling premium chromium paper with other-worldly designs, Chrome Cosmic is a higher-end product with an accessible price point.

Witt Jr.’s rookie card was a main chase in the product, with multiple parallels and inserts to add. With it’s unique design and introductory appeal, Witt’s Cosmic RC is a talking piece for collectors.

Originally owning a short-lived run in the early ‘90s, the Topps Black Gold insert has returned with a boom. And like the originals, the recent print run of Black Gold has hit the market as quite the collectible cardboard.

Bobby Witt Jr. made the insert checklist his rookie season in 2022. And while it’s one of his cheaper RCs, that takes away nothing from its coolness factor. Sporting gold foil flecks and Witt’s powder blue jersey, the Black Gold insert is as slick as they come.

Another new product debuting in 2022 was the Topps Chrome Logofractor Edition. Earlier that year Topps omitted the top rookies in their Chrome release, a snafu they wanted to make up for. In Logofractor, the top 2022 rookies showed up as a short print inserts, Bobby Witt Jr. included. 

Because of that SP distinction, Witt Jr.’s rookie card is now big money on the second hand market. Considering that, the new MLB logo-inspired holo design, and Topps’ hyper-exclusive release, expect Witt’s RC to go for major money.

Topps’ response to Panini’s Downtown is the Home Field Advantage case hit. And since these show up one in every case, the chase is on for an HFA card.

Bobby Witt Jr.’s is not only a rookie card, but also sports some of the most fun designs you’ll ever see on a card. A shuttlecock looms as a nod to the world’s largest shuttlecock that resides in Kansas City, also known as the City of Fountains. A royal crown, BBQ ribs, and a silhouette of Kauffman Stadium’s scoreboard round out the busy design.

Pulling a color parallel is fun, but opening a box where every ‘base’ card is shiny is even better. That’s exactly what Topps did when they released Topps Chrome Sapphire and Bowman Chrome Sapphire.

While it’s not his 1st Bowman, Bobby Witt Jr. does have a rookie card in 2022 Bowman Sapphire. With additional chances to pull color parallels, the base blue sapphire card is as pretty as any on this list.

Base cards of top rookies are fun to collect, but are available in very large numbers which drives prices down. To circumvent that, Topps has added short prints to their checklist as an extra chase. While Bobby Witt Jr.’s 2022 Topps Update RC is collectable, his SP image variation is truly worth cherishing.

We knew Witt Jr. brought the cool, but a side profile photo showing off his stylized lettuce takes this card up another notch. If you can find one of these SPs inserted one in every 112 hobby boxes, it’s a card that can only enhance a collection.

The “2020” part of 2020 Bowman Under Armour All-American isn’t a misprint—these cards did release in 2020. The wrinkle here is that Bobby Witt Jr. actually signed these cards back in 2018 at the Under Armour All-American Game.

So while the on-card auto is from when Witt was leading his Texas high school to the 5A State Championship, the card hit shelves at the peak of Witt prospecting. We’ll take what we can get.

PSA 10 Value: $350

Notably the only unlicensed card on this list, the 2020 Donruss Optic auto is too pretty to pass on. Showing Bobby Witt Jr. loading his swing in a Royals minor league jersey, it’s the “Rated Prospect” emblem that sets this card apart. Not to mention a unique parallel like Carolina Blue.

Due to the lack of MLB team logos, the base auto can be had for a reasonable price. And most would consider it an exceptional investment vs. any of his non-1st or rookie autos.

PSA 10 Value: $360

Tapping back into something that works, 2022 Topps utilizes a slick ’87 Topps design for their insert autograph series. A favorite among collectors old and new, this card features a post-swing Bobby Witt Jr. with an on-card auto.

Sales prices reflect the decent scarcity of this card. But rest assured a card of this caliber will likely always be valued by collectors and sale prices will say as much

2022 was the second year of Topps’ Platinum Anniversary release. This time taking things all the way back to their 1953 design in a 500-card base set.

Coming in with a whopping 33 different parallel varieties, there are plenty of cards to chase. None might be better than the Toile Cream & Blue Refractor featuring old timey baseball players peppered in the background. Add in the Kansas City blue color match, a blue ink on-card auto, and the Rookie Card shield, this Bobby Witt Jr. version of the card is a must-snag.
